This spot is a dad’s go-to joint, attracting mostly dads. Right from the signboard, you can tell it’s got some serious history and expertise behind it. Welcome to Dukcheon Sundae Gukbap nestled in Pyeonghwa-dong, a haven for locals. Come lunchtime, you’ll see middle-aged men from the neighborhood starting to trickle in.

They kick things off with a mixed plate – sundae (Korean blood sausage), intestines, and pork liver, all neatly stacked. No strange smells here; you can tell the owner’s got some secret sauce up their sleeve. Each table comes with vinegared red pepper paste and Perilla Seed powder for you to craft your own flavor. Dip that sundae in the paste – trust me, it’s the Jeonju way. I switched between bites of sundae and intestines, and savored some fresh Kimchi on the side. The moment I laid eyes on that fresh Kimchi, I knew it was the real deal. Its crispness leaves you craving more, perfectly complementing the flavorful seasoning.

I decided to amp things up with some Amppong sundae in my Sundae Gukbap. They generously sprinkled perilla powder on top, adding that nutty kick I love. It elevates the soup’s flavor profile. Each spoonful reveals a bowl packed with intestines, perfectly melding with the soup. The nutty perilla powder and the spicy, savory soup dance on my taste buds. Both the sundae and intestines are bursting with flavor, leaving no room for disappointment. I’m definitely bookmarking this spot for my next Sundae Gukbap craving.
