This dish haunts my thoughts every three weeks like clockwork. The moment I laid eyes on that ebony sauce, my taste buds were screaming, ‘Whoa, that’s spicy!’ The sauce sprawls generously between the eggy and cucumbery goodness. The fiery seasoning unleashes a flavor explosion as it mingles with the noodles. The slightly moist, chewy noodles take a spicy dip in your mouth. It’s the most challenging dish to master, striking the perfect balance between savory and sweet, just as a stellar cold noodle should. If you’re craving some variety, you can even have it bibim style or in a chilled broth โ€“ just ask for some broth on the side. And when it comes to spiciness, you’ve got options: 0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, or go all-in with 100%.

You’ll find Yeongdong Cold Noodles on the first floor of Banpo Underground Shopping Centre 3. It used to be this tiny, run-down spot, but now it’s grown into a pretty spacious joint. It’s consistently adored as one of the best places for some seriously spicy cold noodles. They even offer parking and takeout, making it a fantastic destination all around.
