Sokcho Central Market is synonymous with spicy crab Ramyeon. Without hesitation, just order the Special Spicy Crab Ramyeon. It comes with two whole crabs. Opt for the special, and you’ll also get four scallops and some octopus thrown in. Just looking at it, you can sense the freshness, as if it was caught this morning.
They’ll ask if you like it spicy. Just tell them your preference. ‘This broth is insane!’ would be the most accurate description. Maybe it’s the crab, but there’s a slight sweetness from the onions too. It’s oddly sweet.
While Ramyeon usually tastes better when the broth is richer, I was in a hurry and added it early. Even so, it was delicious. I wonder how much better it would be if I let the broth simmer for longer.
Cracking into the crab legs adds to the fun. Sometimes the owner even cuts them for you. He seems really busy running the place alone, yet his kindness still shines through. If you’re ever in Sokcho, this place is a must-visit. You won’t regret it.
