A foreign friend asked me in Korean – ๐จ๐ผ :’Where else can we find Best Ttockbokki?’ Confidently respond by suggesting Soongeum’s Tteokbokki in Achasan. Their tteokbokki is consistently of high quality, and the owner even judges tteokbokki competitions. She’s a true master.
It’s been a while since I last indulged, having recently overcome my infamous weight struggles. As I sit down, I find myself in trouble alreadyโmy mouth watering at the mere anticipation of the food. The aroma of the tteokbokki fills the air, overpowering my senses. The rice cakes are plump and soft, offering a delightful texture.
I take a sip of water to reset my palate before diving in. With a deep breath, I generously coat the rice cakes with sauce, resembling logs on the shore of a red lake, and top them with sesame leaves. I take a bite, chewing vigorously, and can’t help but furrow my brow in admiration. The moderate spiciness adds a stimulating kick, igniting a fiery sensation.
But there’s a crucial step to enhance the experienceโsprinkling tempura powder like cereal. This adds a crispy texture that elevates the dish to chef-level status, bursting with flavor and detail. And of course, this experience is best enjoyed with loved ones. I had to order 3 portion of a combination of tteokbokki, Fritters to go.
